This investigator-administered scale is used to measure different dimensions of a parent’s interactional behavior with his or her child that, taken together, constitute an interactional style that has been found to be associated with a host of positive child behavior and developmental consequences (e.g., Dunst & Kassow, 2008; Nievar & Becker, 2008; Richter, 2004). The scale includes five items now recognized as key features of responsive parenting (Hall & Nelson, 1981; Hodapp, Goldfield, & Boyatzis, 1984; Landry, Smith, & Swank, 2006). Scoring instructions are included.
