Basing knowledge and practice on scientific evidence is an attempt to move from individualistic and personal approaches for determining intervention practices to one in which traditional ideas are tested and adapted or changed according to accumulating support or refutation. In an effort to trace the development of evidence-based practices in education, relevant Web sites and programs are described. Additionally, some of the issues surrounding the evidence-based education initiative are reviewed.
