Describing, defining, and justifying evidence-based practices (EBP) are channels of research now being given a great deal of thought in many disciplines and fields of study. Tracing the history of the evidence-based paradigm must include exploring its origins in the development of evidence-based medicine (EBM). Today, social science and related disciplines (e.g., management, education, social work, and social services) are joining the quest to inform practice with evidence.
