A responsive home environment provides young children emotional support and positive interactions with adults as well as activities and materials that stimulate and challenge children. Some aspects of the home environment have a positive influence on the social-emotional development of young children. This research synthesis describes the environmental components most likely to optimize social-emotional development of young children.
