Interest-based child learning leads to a range of positive benefits and outcomes. The relationship between child interests and child behavior and learning was examined in this research synthesis. Child interests were used to involve children in desired activities, modify activities to increase child engagement or production of adult-desired behavior, and relate child interests in specific developmental domains to variations in performance in these domains. Outcome measures included child engagement, developmental standing and progress, behavior functioning, and quality of life.
